[Current Mood | tired]

Back from Bletchley and once again I have missed all the fun.

Item #1: Michel has not been seen in Bletchley for the past few days because he has been down in Londinium working with Lavvy Scalara, but this has apparently not kept him from picking up a girlfriend, who, I am told, via various low-level staffers, writes to him five times a day via War Bureau gated post, and whom he has hired for the War Bureau. (Whatever they say about our hiring practises here, at least we don't all hire our lovers to work here and get away with it because our boss started the trend with his own mistress.) Also. Michel. Girlfriend. Viresh and Michel have both apparently been laid. I think it's time we started listening for the final trump.

Item #2: Viresh came back to work and was promoted two days later, and then Dr Taverner hired his lover. (Garry has many words to say on this topic, none of them printable.) Then they were all sent up to the Royal Academy because Viresh's lover is the man who stopped the lightning rain Monday night. Which is very interesting, and Garry is being a fool if he can't understand why it's a good thing for us to hire this man out from under Kyteler. (Also, his name is apparently not Trevelyan, but Piccard.)

Item #3: Vince took off from Bletchley in the middle of the day and nobody knows where he went. (I am sure that somebody knows. But that somebody is in Kyteler's offices, not ours.)

Item #4: Linden Hill was sleeping with Delany. Or rather, Linden Hill was sleeping with Delany, and I'm supposed to be surprised. Delany is also dead. This is a little more surprising, and apparently Surya's getting the body. I intend not to miss this one.

[Current Mood | melancholy]

Spent most of the morning at Bletchley, then back to Mysteries. Abbott was out and Pryce was in a foul mood and told me not to even bother talking to Rosenthal which means something is up and Pryce is going to report it to Taverner so I don't have to. And that is fine with me.

Viresh came back to work today. I almost felt sorry for him. Walsingham and Wilkes, Taverner's bitches, went after him and someone had already put a bug up Walsingham's arse, something about some copper getting into the wrong files, if I didn't misunderstand what Evans was grumbling into the coffee.

Gareth was in a foul mood too. I wish he'd understand that I really do care for him, but not a chance. Instead he had to go after Viresh like a bloody terrier and then when Viresh's hulking mad boyfriend came in they had words again. I don't like the look in that one's eyes. Gareth has no sense of proportion at all. I don't know why I like men like that, but I do, every time.

I don't believe this.

Viresh isn't here.

He's always here before anyone else and he's always still here when we leave. Except for yesterday.

Where is he? Oh, God.

Must be one hell of an interview...

[Current Mood | thoughtful]

I'm 150 quid richer than I was yesterday. And Viresh really is queer. Not that anyone in the world is, or should be, surprised by that. Except Gareth. But I think I made it up to him all right.

I can't feel too badly about things not working out with Viresh since I'm about as different from...whomever that was...as it is possible to be. Still, after everything I've heard him say, what's really surprising isn't that Viresh's paramour is a man; it's that he's a white man.

I've known Viresh to turn down white women who fancied him and claim that that was why--and the only girl he was ever close to marrying was from the West Indies. And he was furious with his father for marrying a white woman--absolutely livid, particularly when she wore Indian dress and spoke Tamil and Hindi, never mind she'd grown up doing that. You'd think the obvious objection to his stepmother would have been to her profession, not her complexion--particularly since she didn't entirely give it up, at least not the way Viresh talked about her, not that that's probably accurate.

I wonder if the rest of his principles are really principles, or if they're just covering up a whole host of other things that he isn't really willing to admit. There really is no telling. I'm just tired of hearing Viresh go on about how he's better than the rest of us because of his ethics. What ethics? Dr Taverner hired us because we were willing to do whatever the Department needed us to, period--and he's no different from any of the rest of us.

[Current Mood | bitchy]

Still can't get the cooker to work right. Dammit, that's not my job.

Pool is up to 150 now that Flint has taken Friday. Gareth thinks maybe that (male) Ayyar's asexual though, as he turned him down. Wish he had turned me down.

Back to Bletchley tomorrow. At least it's not the Academy. God help poor Flint.
